Loch Melfort Hotel

Although we have been closed for the last 5 months, we have been busy behind the scenes!

Take a look at all the things we’ve been upgrading for our guests on the lead up to our re-opening on the 26th April 2021.

Brand new dining areas

Our Restaurant and Lounge have been reconfigured and opened up to increase socially distanced dining capacity, which means even more of our coveted ‘window tables’!

Loch Melfort Hotel - New Decking

Photo taken whilst the decking was being built a few weeks ago.

Our new and improved deck area stretches from the Restaurant all the way to the end of our Bistro. This provides our guests with much more outdoor space and plenty of room for socially distanced tables. Plus, there’s now a lot more space to enjoy the view from.

Our guests love to take our locally grown plants home as a souvenir of their stay so we expanded our plant sales area to offer more choice and availability.

We’ve improved mobility access across the grounds

Whilst we were working outdoors, we also took the opportunity to lay surfaced paths from the playground to our boat house. This recent work has increased mobility access for those with disabilities and we’ve also added new ramps to the extended decking of our disabled access room.

Our plans also include a new path from the hotel to the sea to provide access to the water for wheelchair users. This fresh route will make access from our boat moorings quicker (and drier underfoot), and offers better access for wild swimming and beach lovers!

Bedroom upgrades

All 10 of Loch Melfort Hotel’s ground floor Sea View Lodge Rooms have had a decking re-design. Each room now has its own partitioned decking area, providing guests with double the outdoor space and a greater guarantee of social distancing.

We invested in a new biomass heating and hot water system so all showers now have improved pressure delivered in a sustainable way.

The Master Suite now has a larger balcony area (6x3m) and improved view via partial glass screen balustrade. Enjoy uninterrupted views from the suite, extending all the way across Asknish Bay to the Inner Hebrides.

Room 9, a Sea View Main House Room, is now a Main House Balcony room, it has had its standard window replaced with new patio-door that leads to a new 4x3m balcony area.

Our kitchen got even more creative

Don’t think we forgot about our Chef’s and kitchen team! The Restaurant kitchen is currently being refitted so that we have more space to create delish new dining experiences for you. We us fresh, local produce and are working with lots of local suppliers. Take a look at our provenance page for details about our individual suppliers.

What can be more locally sourced than produce from your own back yard? Watch this space! We’ve replaced our old hen enclosure with a new kitchen garden.

We reviewed our commitment to sustainability

Since 2008, Loch Melfort Hotel has strived to minimise the harmful effects (and maximise the beneficial influences) that our activities have on the environment. Building on our existing sustainable measures, a new Biomass Heat Cabin has been installed. This will now supply all hot water and heating to the hotel. The cabin is a huge step in reducing our carbon footprint and improving on our existing green credentials.

Get ready for the future! In case you missed it, last Summer we installed new E-car charging points following feedback from loyal guests. We can now be found on the official Charge Place Scotland map: https://buff.ly/3046cMu

New activities for Loch Melfort Hotel guests

In addition to 17-acres of gardens and coastline explorations, hotel guests can now enjoy the waters of the Scottish West coast! We’re delighted to learn that Croabh Haven Water Sports are re-opening just across the bay and will offer paddle boarding and sea kayaking. A must for kids of adventurers.
