After the untimely death of our flock of hens, we have just introduced 20 new Black Rock hens into our animal family to enhance your walk on the way to the NTS Arduaine Garden or down to the beach. The hen’s eggs are also for sale at Reception and prove very popular with guests, not to mention our local B&B Owner who uses them on their own guest’s breakfasts and home baking – they say they make the most wonderful cakes!
As many of you will know, we have had 3 Highland cows; Campbell, McDonald and Dougal, for quite some time now. They had a lucky reprieve from the slaughter house on the Isle of Mull after a fire took place there about 18 months ago. We also had the pleasure of housing 4 lambs for over a year from a local farmer and are awaiting a few new Spring lambs to take their place. Like all our guest bedrooms our collection of animals also benefit from sea views from their home in the front paddocks outside the hotel leading down to Asknish Bay.
And who could forget our favourite four legged animals, Toby and Hector the dogs! I think these terrible twosome are the reason many guests come back, just to see them – one lady was so distraught when she was told they were still at the kennels whilst the owners were away she didn’t want to check out until they had returned later that day!
Hector joined the Hotel after Rachel saw an ad for a puppy in Tesco’s in Oban 3 years ago and came back with more than she, or Calum, bargained for, whereas Toby has been with Calum and Rachel for a little longer and travelled to Brazil and back with them.
