How long have you been working at the hotel?

Since November 2021

What was your previous job?

I studied international Business with German and French at Glasgow Caledonian University. During this time and through Summers, I worked part-time in shops, restaurants, and the Shetland Museum

How and where did you get your hospitality job experience?

I started my first waitressing job when I was 14 in a Chinese Restaurant in Shetland and have been in hospitality ever since. I wrote my dissertation on the hotel industry and started working in hotels after I graduated.

What is the best part of your job?

Chatting to the guests and building a rapport with them. People coming to thank you after a great stay is an amazing feeling that makes it worth it. We have an amazing wee team who work so well together and have a good laugh, it doesn’t always feel like work!

What is your local recommendation for guests?

The views from Ben Chaorach, behind the hotel, are stunning, especially on a clear sunny day. A short 45 minutes ferry takes you to the beautiful Isle of Mull where you have unmatched scenery (my favourite place is Aros Waterfalls just outside Tobermory). The Crinan Canal is lovely to walk and doesn’t quite feel like Scotland.
