Alison has been working at the Loch Melfort hotel since 2010! She lives on the Isle of Seil – connected to the mainland by The Bridge over the Atlantic.
Originally from Brighton, she went to university to study Tourism in Buckinghamshire. There she met her husband, a local boy from Argyll. After they both graduated, they moved up to Scotland, first living on a farm in Kilmartin, and Alison joined our team that summer.
Alison’s favourite part of her job is meeting guests and building a rapport with the regulars who come back time after time. She says the view doesn’t hurt either!
Alison is the organisation centre of the hotel. Nobody knows how she gets her work done so quickly and efficiently. She keeps everyone on their toes – especially our Manager and Head chef who would be lost without her. Nothing gets forgotten about when Alison is around and she is the glue that ties every department in the hotel together, from initial contact to departure she ensures the best possible bespoke experience for each of our guests.
Alison’s recommendation for things to do while you are here: “All the surrounding islands are my favourite places to visit. Especially Easdale, the former slate quarrying island and home to the World Stone Skimming Championship each September. You can walk around it all in a few hours, seeing the cute former workers cottages, followed by a bite to eat at The Puffer Cafe”.
