[first]Monday saw Rachel, Alison, Sarah and James take part in a first aid training day, run by Steve from Atlantis Leisure Club in Oban.[/first]
As we have children occasionally come to stay at Loch Melfort, to enjoy the play park and to give the highland cows some attention, we felt the ‘Emergency First Aid for Sport’ course would be best suited as it also covers children and babies and not just adults in the workplace. The morning was spent administering CPR to a dummy adult, child and baby, followed by practicing the recovery position on each other. They then dealt with bandages and slings and other illnesses such as strokes, diabetic attacks, shock and choking, followed by an exam to check they remember what they had learnt.

All four passed and as there will always be at least one on duty at any time, it’s good to know we are in safe hands while we wait for an ambulance to come from Oban or the first response unit from Ardfern if the horrible situation arose.
