The only distillery on Mull, Tobermory distillery is one of the oldest in Scotland, established in 1798. Tobermory distillery produces two types of whisky, one peated, Ledaig, and one unpeated, Tobermory. Tobermory is situated just by the town of the same name on the North Eastern tip of the beautiful isle of Mull, in a tranquil little spot. It is worth a trip to have a look around the distillery and generally visit this lovely part of the world.
Tobermory 10 Year Old Single Malt Whisky is an award-winning “young malt”. Lovely and smooth, it is also gentle and fresh. On the nose, it is rather coastal, with some seaweed accents. On the palate, it brings notes of honey, soft dried fruit and oak. The finish is long, herbal and peppery. This whisky might suit newcomers to the spirit and need a bit more time to get accustomed to some of the smokier and peatier flavours.
To be enjoyed outside, with a sea view, in this lovely late spring / summer long evenings we have been having of late.
