November has landed, and everyone is already on the hunt for stocking fillers and new gift ideas to make everyone smile on Christmas morning.

We’re surrounded by people whose businesses support our hotel (we sell their food, we partner with their tours, we display their art), and so we’ve put together this little guide of gifts that are local, sometimes unusual, and absolutely rooted in the west-coast landscape of Scotland.

Here’s our list of local makers and experiences that we love (many tried and tested!) Some are physical products, some are vouchers (perfect for last-minute shoppers), all are from the Argyll area or nearby islands.

Stocking Fillers and Gifts from the West Coast of Scotland

Handmade Scottish Skincare by Siabann Eisdeal

After their daughter was born with extremely sensitive skin, local mum Beth set about researching hydrating and toxin-free recipes that would make a difference to her skin. After the success of her products at home, their business Siabann Eisdeal was born – and it wasn’t long before they’d expanded their range to offer soaps for eczema and psoriasis prone skin, alongside shampoo bars for sensitive scalps.

Years down the line, they now have their own shop on Easdale Island (a great wee day out from Loch Melfort Hotel), and now we can’t get enough of their seasonal-themed soaps and gifts sets. Brilliant stocking-fillers at a great price, with a unique Scottish feel and story behind them. Keep an eye out for their next drop of limited-edition Highland Coo soaps (guess who they were inspired by?) – the first batch sold out immediately, so you’ll need to be fast!

Shop their range of soaps, solid perfumes, moisturiser bars, body balms, lip balms, shampoo bars, and aftershave balms.

Wheyski by the Sgriob-ruadh Farm on the Isle of Mull

A unique twist on whisky – and interesting talking piece for people who love our famous Scottish spirit and already have a growing collection.

Sgriob-ruadh Farm (aka The Mull Cheese Farm) produce a contemporary take on traditional whisky. Their spirit is oak-aged (deep toffee flavours with subtle notes of cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, and oak) and is made from the spent whey produced during cheesemaking on the island. This by-product, rich in natural milk sugars, is fermented and distilled to create a smooth spirit. It’s a great use of local resources and a brilliant story around Scottish sustainable production.

Slàinte Sauces Clootie Dumpling in a Bottle

We’ve been a fan of Slàinte Sauces for quite some time now (you might remember they were featured in our 2024 guide?) This year, we’ll be adding their take on Scotland’s classic pudding to our wish list – what they call, “warm mixed spices, raisins, and a boozy festive hug in every spoonful.”

This sauce is perfect for pouring over puddings on Christmas day, or as an extra treat for topping ice cream.

This is the ultimate West Coast foodie selection, with the Murray Smoked Products team pulling together over 10 smoked offerings in this beautifully presented gift basket.

With so much inside, there will definitely be enough for leftovers on Boxing Day.

Baileys Ganache Polar Bears from the Oban Chocolate Shop

We couldn’t wait to see what creative, chocolate goodies the Oban Chocolate Shop would come up with for Christmas 2025, and (once again) they didn’t disappoint us. Our top pick this year is their little polar bear shaped chocolates, filled with a luxury, creamy Baileys Irish cream ganache.

We’re also adding their enormous Red Robin 36 Chocolate Box to this year’s wish list – we love the different festive-themed shapes and colours in this selection box.

Jess Macdonald Brass

So far, we’ve covered foodie treats and wellbeing bests from across the Highlands, but what about those looking for a gift to last a lifetime?

We only discovered Jess’s work this year, and we wish we’d found her sooner! Hailing from the Isle of Arran, she hand-crafts beautifully intricate necklaces, cufflinks, rings, and more – all inspired by her dad’s love of Scotland and its landscape.

We particularly love her ‘Isles’ and ‘Summits’ collections – pieces developed with particular locations in mind (perfect for someone with a fondness for the little islands or grand peaks of our wee country.)

4 Hour Whale Search & Corryvreckan Wildlife Cruise for 2 Adults with Sealife Adventures

A candle is nice, but it’s rarely a gift that they’ll remember for a lifetime. But a whale sighting, that’s something someone will remember forever!

Sealife Adventures take you out across the Firth of Lorne, one of Britain’s most highly protected marine areas. It’s designated as both a Special Area of Conservation and a Marine Protected Area and has been free from damaging fishing practices for over a decade. This protection has allowed fish populations to thrive, creating excellent feeding grounds for whales, dolphins, porpoises, basking sharks, and an abundance of seabirds.

Your trips are scheduled around the tides to ensure guests are in the best locations at the right times for feeding activity. Each journey also includes highlights such as the Corryvreckan Whirlpool and Ballachuan Hazelwood (a Scottish Wildlife Trust Reserve, while the surrounding coastline is home to otters, deer, and wild goats.

Putting this guide together has been a nice reminder of how many talented people we have right here on our doorstep. We’ve already managed to tick off a fair bit of our own Christmas shopping while researching it, and it’s been lovely chatting to so many familiar faces along the way.

We hope it helps you find something a little different this year too – whether that’s a handmade gift from Oban or a Loch Melfort stay to look forward to once the wrapping paper is cleared away.
