Wildlife Diary

The Loch Melfort area abounds with diverse mammals, birds, marine life, insects, flora and fauna and many of our guests delight in telling us their wildlife sightings.

Perhaps you've seen a golden eagle riding the thermals, dolphins jumping through the waves, or a rare orchid hiding in the grass. Seal

Spotted a seal in Kames Bay, sunning itself on the rocks at low tide, casting an eye towards the fish farm cages!!

Sea Eagle

Spotted a pair of Sea Eagles wheeling around in the air over Asknish Bay in front of the Loch Melfort Hotel, with a perfect back drop of blue cloudless skies and glorious winter sunshine.
