Wildlife Diary

The Loch Melfort area abounds with diverse mammals, birds, marine life, insects, flora and fauna and many of our guests delight in telling us their wildlife sightings.

Perhaps you've seen a golden eagle riding the thermals, dolphins jumping through the waves, or a rare orchid hiding in the grass. Sea Eagle at Loch Craignish near Aird flying low over sea disturbing lots of gulls & geese.

Otter

Calum spotted a Otter on Tuesday, 12 April 2011 at 19:00

Pair of young otters frolicking in the shallow water just a metre off the shore in Asknish Bay in front of the hotel. Guests in the hotel lounges watched them playing while enjoying their pre-dinner drinks.

Red Squirrel spotted crossing the track on the way up to Lunga Stables from Croabh Haven.

Spotted a stoat crossing the road, just after Loch Oude, heading towards Kilmelford.

Spotted an otter swimming away from the banks of Loch Feohcan, just before Knipoch.
