Wildlife Diary

The Loch Melfort area abounds with diverse mammals, birds, marine life, insects, flora and fauna and many of our guests delight in telling us their wildlife sightings.

Perhaps you've seen a golden eagle riding the thermals, dolphins jumping through the waves, or a rare orchid hiding in the grass. Red Squirrel

First sighting of a red so close to the hotel. Sitting in my office looking out the window,the red leapt from tree to tree at the entrance of the NTS car-park and the scurried along the ground the field in front of Old Cottage.

Butterfly

Saw some beautiful Red Admirals near the path on the way down to the boathouse in front of the hotel.
