Creative Experience Workshops

1.5 hour courses; 10:30am – 12pm or 2pm-3:30pm. For 1 -3 people.

1: Inspired by Colour: Fashion  or 2: Inspired by Colour: Interiors

Colour captures our sensory perception of an object and it is often the first thing we notice. You will look at colour trends forecasting, gather inspiration from the garden, beach, magazine cuttings, fabric swatches and paints and create a mood board exploring and creating your own colour story. Each workshop specialises in their own range of colour trends.

Creating a mood board will help you to visualise how colours, patterns and textures work together and how they are used as inspirational tools when choosing colours and combinations for clothing or interiors.

3: Introduction to Patterns: Demos & Workshop

Pattern making is an art and when done well, the garment feels good and looks good. You will look at some beginner basics of transforming a 2D pattern piece into a 3D shaped piece by dart manipulation. A step by step demo will show how to create a yoke seam from a dart, add flare to a skirt and to create a panel seam. You will be guided through to make your own dart manipulations.

4: Introduction to Fabric Cutting: Demos & Tips

Cutting into and getting the best out of your fabric can be a daunting task, however a few professional tips can ease the way. You will look at different ways to use grain lines for best effect. Marking methods and cutting tips. Looking at check repeats and how to check match. It’s all about getting to know your fabric!
