The Games celebrate our rich culture and heritage with field and track events, piping and Highland dancing competitions and ‘heavy events’ including the world championships for tossing the caber.

West Highland Yachting Week
This historic and unique sailing regatta is now in its 66th year. It has evolved into the West Coast’s second biggest sailing event taking in 3 venues, Craobh, Oban and Tobermory. 1000+ competitors from around the world enjoy national and local media coverage. The event has evolved a distinctive blend of competitive racing combined with a varied and full programme of family social events

Every August, Oban is the place to be to enjoy a highland games that is unsurpassed by any other. In the Track and Field events and in the Dancing many of the competitions are for Scottish championship titles and in the solo Piping, the competitions are for World championship titles.

Oban Sea Kayak Race
The fourth Oban Sea Kayak Race is on Saturday 24th August 2013 at 1pm and is open to single or double sea kayaks, sea kayak teams and a new performance race category including ocean surf ski.
The race begins and ends at Oban on Scotland’s beautiful west coast and covers a distance of 20km. The race circumnavigates the beautiful and rugged Island of Kerrera. It’s a demanding route, through remote and exposed waters, but one that promises a memorable and fun event.
All proceeds from Oban Sea Kayak Race will be in aid of Oban Lifeboat. The 2012 race raised £1800 for Oban’s Lifeboat.

World Stone Skimming Championships
Contestants hail from around the world and the championships now attract over 300 participants and many spectators. Anyone of any age and any level of skill can enter the championships.
