Loch and awe in the Highlands

Our hotel was at Arduaine – the Loch Melfort. Set on the loch and overlooking Asknish Bay, it is a friendly place to stay. Owners Calum and Rachel Ross have created what is a perfect country house hotel. Roaring log fires when needed, comfortable furniture and views that simply take your breath away.

Bag a window seat in the dining room and drink in the vista as you dine on fresh langoustine, delectable crab cakes, superb local meats and (space permitting) melt in the mouth desserts. Service is exemplary, efficient, helpful and discreet. I had a very difficult time deciding what to eat on one evening and very much wanted two of the starters. No problem at all came the reply would you like one as a main course but a little larger? If only other restaurants could be so helpful.

Breakfast was easy for me, Loch Fyne kippers. Juicy and meaty and the perfect way to start the day.

There are five bedrooms in the main house including two suites – perfect for honeymooners with those stunning views – and 20 others each with a balcony or terrace.
Children are welcome and dogs are allowed in certain rooms.

There is also a bistro, the Chartroom, where they serve light lunches and snacks and also where the locals come to play music on a regular basis.

What our customers say...

Belated thanks for your hospitality. I massively enjoyed the week, staying in your fantastic hotel, the views, the food, the WEATHER etc. Really good and I am sure the meeting would have been entirely less productive sitting in a Sheraton conference room. Thanks again, best wishes.
